Welcome to the Center for Cognitive Science

Cognitive Science is concerned with the architecture of the mind, that is, the components of the mind, how they are organized, and how they function. Research in Cognitive Science at Ohio State pursues the following three objectives:

  1. the development of precise formal theories on the various mental faculties, based on careful experimental inquiry
  2. the construction of computational models of the various mental faculties
  3. the understanding of the biological mechanisms that underlie mental faculties.

The fundamental mission of the Center is to stimulate interdisciplinary research and curricular activities across the disciplines that deal with the workings of the mind. Members of the Center come from many affiliated departments and divisions of the University.
